Weirton Day at Kennywood

set for Aug. 12, discounted

WEIRTON - The 49th annual Weirton Community Day at Kennywood Park is Aug. 12.

The event is organized by the Weir High School Band Boosters, and the band will perform in the evening parade, after the students completed their annual two-week band camp.

All-day discounted passes are on sale at Ted's Plaza Pharmacy in the Shop'n Save Plaza and Newbrough Photo on Main Street. Tickets are $25 each, and senior tickets are $15. Cash sales only.

Never Alone rally scheduled

WEIRTON - The fourth annual Never Alone West Virginia rally, themed "Stand Up, Change It" will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Weirton Event Center.

The event will feature 6-year-old drumming prodigy Avery Molek and former University of Pittsburgh football wide receiver Joe DelSardo. The event will include basket drawings, balloon art, food, a 50/50 drawing, mime, balloon launch, face painting, candlelight vigil walk and music by Disc Jockey NIN.
