Old Timers Reunion Picnic is Saturday
The 22nd-annual Old Timers Reunion Picnic for the former employees of Vanadium Corp., Foote Mineral and Satralloy Inc. will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Cross Creek Park in Wintersville.
The reunion committee will furnish the chicken, plates, cups, utensils and soft drinks. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish.
All former employees, widows, widowers and their families are urged to attend this "festive and fun day as old friends gather to share memories."
Prizes donated by local merchants will be awarded to employees, widows and widowers. There also will be a 50/50 drawing.

Brunch/lunch at St. Paul's Sunday
St. Paul's Episcopal Church., 415 Adams St., Steubenville, will hold its monthly soup and sandwich luncheon Sunday.
The main feature of this month's luncheon is the addition of brunch foods along with the regular soup, sandwich and dessert menu. Brunch/lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The cost for adults is $6 and $3 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available by calling (740) 282-5366.
ICHS Class of 2003 having reunion
Indian Creek High School's Class of 2003 will celebrate its 10-year reunion on Aug. 17 at Zalenski Family Eatery and Pub from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be available as well as a cash bar. The cost is $15 per person.

Crew House open for summer series
The Crew House Museum on Main Street operated by the Richmond Community Historical Society will continue its summer open house series from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors can tour the facility that features a variety of Richmond memorabilia and check out the Jefferson Union High School room of school items, including yearbooks, uniforms and trophies.
There will be Richmond pottery on sale and newly available T-shirts from Memorial Day for $15 bearing the logo "In Richmond, We Remember."
The open houses will continue to be held on the second and fourth Sundays in July and August. It additionally will be open on July 27 from noon to 3 p.m. as part of the local 150th anniversary commemoration of Confederate Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan's raid through Indiana and Ohio that included Jefferson County and Richmond.

Outdoors club plans hiking outings
The Harrison County Outdoors Club organized its first excursion recently with members traveling to Hocking Hills State Forest where they hiked to Ash Cave, the Firetower, Cedar Falls, Old Man's Cave and Rock House.
In between rain showers, some members of the group hiked a portion of the Grandma Gatewood section of the old Buckeye Trail and went on a zipline canopy tour.
On July 21 at 2 p.m., the group will be hiking an onroad section of the Buckeye Trail. Hikers should meet by 1:45 p.m. at the covered bridge on Covered Bridge Road near Freeport - point 27 on the Buckeye Trail Association map. All ages are welcome.
The hike will be limited to roads and last approximately two hours. Participants are reminded to bring water.
Also this month, the group will be participating in an historical hike led by Dr. Scott Pendleton and Ray Ferrell.
Given this is the 150th anniversary of Morgan's Raid through Harrison County, the two historians plan to hold a presentation at the Piedmont rest area at 4 p.m. July 28 when they will discuss Gen. John Hunt Morgan's activities in Ohio.
Following the presentation, participants will get the opportunity to hike to the spot where Morgan crossed the hill and came into the valley of Piedmont.

A line dancing Lupus Outreach Program will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 19 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center located at 905 Market St., Steubenville.
SHS Alumni Association to meet
The Steubenville High School Alumni Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday at Scaffidi's Restaurant in Steubenville, beginning at 6 p.m.
Using Facebook for library needs
Use Facebook to reserve books, renew items and look up story time or other activities for the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County.

Vendors sought for Brooke County fair
The Brooke County Fair Board is seeking vendors for the fair, which will be held Sept. 6-8 at Brooke Hills Park in Wellsburg.

City building hours expanded
The Follansbee City Building is now open an hour earlier, at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Calls to the building through (304) 527-1330 will be answered at that time also. City Manager John DeStefano said the change was made in an effort to better assist residents.
Caregiver support group meetings set
The Alzheimer's Association will be holding its caregiver support group meetings on the following dates:
-- July 18 at 6 p.m. at Eastern Gateway Community College, 4000 Sunset Blvd., Room 1500, Steubenville.
-- July 23 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 400 Walnut St., Martins Ferry.
The meetings are free and open to all caregivers, family members and friends with a loved one living with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
