To the editor:
This letter is in remembrance of Bob Hamilton, who died recently. Bones Hamilton was one of my heroes. I admired his zest for life. He lived it well, but above all, he shared it well.
He was a man for all seasons, a blue-collar worker by uniform, but a white-collar worker by his loving nature and generous spirit, always ready to give and to serve his community, his family and his friends.
God blessed Bob with a special partner and love of his life, Alice. They shared life and love and taught all of us to do the same.
You were never an outsider in their home or in their presence.
He was a member of the Wellsburg Lions for more than 50 years and received the prestigious Melvin Jones Award for humanitarian service. Bob had the heart of a Lion, but the spirit of a lamb. He was the conscience of the club, and a part of all of us died with him.
He gave freely of his time and his resources to support all events that benefited the community. He offered his help any way he could. His auto parts store was a gathering place for friends and customers to share the news of the day.
Bob, thanks for the memories - we loved you.
