The ninth-annual Judy Maple Golf Classic will be held on July 27 at Spring Hills Golf Club in East Springfield with Charity Hospice of Wintersville chosen as this year's major recipient.
Cathy Cich, founder and administrator at Charity Hospice, expressed gratitude for the organization having been chosen.
"Our clinical staff is in great need of new computers and laptops as many of ours are outdated. We utilize the Electronic Medical Record - EMR, which is going to be mandated by Medicare and since becoming compliant in 2009, all of our hardware has become outdated and needs to be replaced," Cich said.
PREPARING FOR EVENT — Looking forward to the ninth-annual Judy Maple Golf Classic that will be held on July 27 at Spring Hills Golf Club in East Springfield with Charity Hospice of Wintersville chosen as this year’s major recipient are, from left, Dave Maple, Judy Maple Foundation member; Tiffany Hartzell, Charity Hospice professional relations coordinator; Cari McIntyre, clinical manager; and Cathy Cich, Charity Hospice founder and administrator.
"We are hoping to be able to buy our staff more updated equipment which would make patient visits at home or in a facility much more convenient."
The Judy Maple Foundation was established in 2005 in memory of the late Judy Maple of Toronto by her six children. Since its inception, the foundation's major recipients have included the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Valley Hospice, the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, the Jefferson County Fourth Street Health Center, and, most recently, Charity Hospice.
The year 2013 will mark more than $100,000 in donations having been made to these local organizations in addition to an annual scholarship at Edison High School, local charities including Urban Mission Ministries, the City Rescue Mission and local families in need.
The golf outing is the major fundraiser for the foundation.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost for an individual golfer is $70 and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, breakfast, beverages and a barbecue dinner.
