MEANS, Sister Henrietta, 81, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, WI.
The former Elizabeth Ann Means was born on April 19, 1932, in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late Henry W. and Helen Marie (O'Rear) Means.
She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1950. She then entered the convent in 1953 and professed her vows in 1955. Sister Henrietta earned a bachelor of arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc.
Sister Henrietta served as a teacher and/or principal at Holy Redeemer School, Two Rivers, Wisconsin; Cathedral School, Honolulu; St. John Vianney School, Kailua; St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii; San Xavier School, Tucson, AZ. She served as temporary professed directress; local director at the motherhouse for nine years. She also served as tutor, secretary, homemaker, and general helper at St. Christopher, West Covina; St. Francis of Assisi, Greenwood, Mississippi; and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc; and a sponsor presence representative at St. Paul Elder Services, Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; one sister, Dorothy Marie Means, of Mingo Junction; a nephew, Bud (Stephanie) Means of Toronto, Ohio; three great nieces, Erin (Grady) Query, Nicole (Brian) Rawson and Courtney (Nikil) Prabhaker; two great-great- nephews, Brian and Jack Rawson and one great-great-niece, Megan Rawson.
Sister Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bill Means and his wife, Dorothy Means; and one nephew, Mark Means.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc, WI. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Agnes Parish Church in Mingo on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10 a.m.
