Weir High Band Boosters set to meet at 6:30 p.m. today

WEIRTON - A Weir High School Band Booster meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. today in the high school band room.

All band parents and students are asked to attend. Those who have candy money to remit are asked to do so.

Catholic Central plans reunion

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Steubenville Catholic Central High School Class of 1964 will hold a 50th Reunion Planning Committee meeting at 7 p.m. today at Lancelot's Restaurant.

The reunion will be held June 13-14 at the Steubenville Country Club. Classmates will be contacted by email and U.S. Mail. All interested classmates and friends are encouraged to attend the meeting.

The committee is looking for postal and email addresses for the following classmates: William Layman, Robert Van Dine, Teresa Checca, Betty Ighnat Jacob, Marian Jablonski Sweat, Helen Leonard Baker, Patty Morrow Musser, Diane Rine Kelly and Toni Simpson Cartisana.

Teddy Bear Tea set for Wednesday

WEIRTON - The Literary Department of the Weirton Woman's Club will host the annual Teddy Bear Tea from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library's downstairs activity room.

Children aged 3 and older are invited to attend free of charge, accompanied by an adult. The event includes a teddy bear video, teddy bear story and a magic show performed by Jim "The Magic Man" Tate. Tate also will make balloon animals for the children. Literary Department members will serve punch and cookies. Bears and books will be awarded as door prizes, and each child will receive a teddy bear at the end of the tea.

This is the 11th annual tea the Literary Department and library have sponsored. Diana Durst is the Literary Department chair, and Diane Pastoric is the club president.

St. Nicholas holding bake sale

WEIRTON - St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will have a "Grab and Go" lunch and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church located at 604 Colliers Way, across from the Weirton Medical Center.

The meal includes a sloppy joe sandwich, pasta salad, cookie and chips. The cost is $5. For takeout orders, call (304) 723-9746.

The church will host the following upcoming events:

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8, "Just Salads";

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 22, cabbage roll dinner; and

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12, soup and salad lunch.

KidneySmart classes scheduled

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - KidneySmart classes will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the last Thursday of each month through December at Trinity West Hospital's Cafeteria Conference Room located at 4000 Johnson Road.

There will no classes if the date falls on a holiday.

The classes will look at how kidneys function, early signs of kidney disease, ways to manage diet and health and treatment options for chronic kidney disease. It is taught by certified educators.

Cup of Life sets 'Back to School Bash'

FOLLANSBEE - The Cup of Life Ministries will hold a "Back to School Bash" Friday at the Follansbee Activities Center.

A picnic will begin at 6 p.m., followed by distribution of school supplies and swimming from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

All ages are welcomed, and it is free to the public.

Jimmy Z Trio to perform

PARIS, Pa. - "Music on the Deck" will feature the Jimmy Z Trio from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at The Gathering Place Coffee Shop at Paris Presbyterian Church located at 127 Steubenville Pike

Jim Zalenka of Pittsburgh will sing music from the Great American Songbook, including music by Johnny Mercer, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter and Jerome Kern, in swing style. Free refreshments are available. The event is free. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.

Flea'tique features Passion

MCDONALD, Pa. - The McDonald Trail Station's annual Flea'tique and McFleaMarket will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the trail station.

It will feature a special meet-and-greet with three Pittsburgh Passion Women's Football Team members, who just celebrated a winning season.

Vendor spaces are still available at a cost of $15 per space, with a special $10 cost for nonprofit groups. Confirm a space by calling (724) 926-9137 by Friday.

The trail station volunteers will be selling hot dogs, chips and sodas and holding a prize drawing.
