WEIRTON - American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary President Shirley Brecht called the July 15 meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance; Chaplain Marcy Spano gave the invocation; and members recited the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Secretary Clara Robinson gave the roll call of officers and read the June 17 meeting minutes; Treasurer Gloria Jerrel gave the financial report, which was approved and filed for audit; and Robinson read correspondence. The auxiliary received thank-you notes from Girls State participants and the Veteran's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The auxiliary will attend the post picnic Aug. 18 and members made a motion to hold a drawing and provide door prizes. Drawing tickets are six for $5.
The auxiliary will hold a cabbage roll sale from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the legion hall, with volunteers making the rolls beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 13. The Veterans' Day dinner will be held Oct. 27, and more details will be released as they become available.
The auxiliary will hold a Christmas party at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at Undo's in Weirton.
Vice President Pat Folden announced a new member, Lois Curcone, who is the daughter of club member Louis Tassey.
Loretta Fabian and Clara Robinson served refreshments. Pat Folden and Chris Boyd will serve in August. Wander Perrone won the 50/50 drawing.
Brecht adjourned the meeting, and Spano gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19.
