Toronto High School graduate Tyler Owens, flanked by his parents Wes and Mary Owens, will continue his academic and athletic careeers at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he will major in business/sports management and be a member of the baseball team. Owens was a four-year letterman for the Red Knights. He batted .421 with 26 RBIs and 21 stolen bases as a senior. On the mound, he went 9-3 with 69 strikeouts, 25 walks and a 2.31 ERA. He was chosen MVP of the Eastern District all-star game, participated in the Mizuno game in Columbus and the OVAC all-star game. “Tyler has been a big part of our program for the last four years. His dedication to the baseball team and school along with work ethic will be the main reasons why he will be successful at the next level,” said Red Knights baseball coach Brian Perkins.
