Golden Bears selling tickets
NEW MANCHESTER - General admission tickets for Oak Glen's home opener, set for 7 p.m. Friday against Edison, will be available today through noon Friday during normal business hours in the high school main office, at Citizens Drug Store in Chester and the New Cumberland RX Center.
Cost is $5 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6. Football season tickets are available through Friday at the high school main office.
Meat the Bears will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Oak Glen Multi Sports Complex. All fall sports teams from the high school and middle school teams and the Golden Bear Marching Band will be introduced. Items from the various teams will be available for purchase.
Redskins win at Shadyside
SHADYSIDE - The Indian Creek boys cross country team won the Shadyside Invitational Saturday, scoring 19 points by placing first, second, third, fifth and eighth.
Allen Keister won the event. He was followed by Kyle Weaver, Tyler Gaydosh, Tanner Wise and Eli Vaughan. For the girls, Addie Winland was eighth, Abby Greco 11th and Fanci Ward 13th.
Crusaders place fourth
BOARDMAN - The Catholic Central golf team finished fourth out of 15 teams Saturday at the Cardinal Mooney Classic. Austin Meronoff led the way with a 73. He was followed by Jason Bensur (75), Mike Manfresca (84), Josh Merriman (91) and Nick Ivkovich (96).
Silver Knights blank Bears
NEW MANCHESTER - The Tyler Consolidated boys soccer team defeated host Oak Glen, 3-0, Saturday at the Oak Glen Multi Sports Complex.
Nate Bennett had eight saves for the Golden Bears. Dylan Romine scored twice and Matthew Goudy once for the Silver Knights. Nathan Heintzman had seven saves.
Creek boosters to meet
WINTERSVILLE?- The Indian?Creek Athletic Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the high school cafeteria.
Madonna to hold golf tournament
WEIRTON - The 10th-annual Weirton Boys and Girls Club Golf Scramble will be held Sunday at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course and will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun. The team handicap must exceed 30 with only one member of the team with a six handicap or less.
