WEIRTON - The Boys & Girls Club of Weirton is busy planning its 10th-annual golf tournament, the organization's major yearly fundraiser.
The golf event is set for Sunday, with an 8:30 a.m. tee time, at Mountaineer's Woodview Golf Course.
"This is the only fundraiser we have the entire year," Boys & Girls Club Executive Director George Vargo said, noting the Boys & Girls Club receives support from the Weirton United Way and some private donations. "This is what keeps the doors open."

Vargo said the hope is to have 20 teams participate and raise $10,000.
Corporate sponsors for the golf tournament are Washington Automall, First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, James White Construction, Hancock County Savings Bank, Gurrera Law Offices and Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort.
Vargo explained much of the funding from the event goes to support the Boys & Girls Club's after-school program, which provides meals, tutoring and activities for area children.
Vargo said, on average, 25 to 30 children use the after-school program each year.
Part of the funding also goes to upgrade computers and software for use by the children. Vargo said they try to update some of the programs each year to keep up with the needs of the kids.
"A lot of the kids don't have computers," Vargo said. "They use our systems."
Vargo thanked tournament chair Kim Azzarello for organizing this year's event.
"She's the one who really put this thing together for us," Vargo said.
