Museum holding meeting on

Hometown Teams exhibit

WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center will hold a meeting to discuss the upcoming Hometown Teams exhibit at 6 p.m. today at the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center located on 3149 Main St.

The museum will begin planning the local companion exhibit for the Smithsonian Institution displays the museum will host in August and September 2014. Those wanting to help or who have potential display items are asked to either attend the meeting or call President Dennis Jones at (304) 479-7266.

Senior center holding dance

WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a dance today.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and Light Touch will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $5.

The center also holds Friday night bingo. Doors open at 5 p.m., early birds start at 6:30 p.m. and regular games start at 7 p.m. The first 50 people to arrive have a chance to win a free game packet. For information about the center, call (304) 748-3490.

Management club meeting

WEIRTON - The Weirton Steel Management Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Giovanni's Family Restaurant banquet room.

All members and former members are invited to attend. Dinner and social will be enjoyed.

Republicans set to meet

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Republican Executive Committee will hold the regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brooke County Library located on Main Street.

St. Paul holding craft festival

BRIDGEPORT, Ohio - St. Paul Lutheran Church will hold a fall indoor-outdoor craft and food festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the church located at 56381 National Road, next to Wilson Funeral Home.

Wheeling conventions eyed

WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center will host David Javersak, who will give the presentation "Species of Legal Fiction: The Wheeling Convention" at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the museum.

Javersak will speak about West Virginia statehood and the Wheeling Conventions, during which western Virginians planned to secede from Virginia, eventually forming a Reorganized Government of Virginia based in Wheeling.

Javersak is a West Liberty University School of Liberal Arts dean emeritus. He taught history for 39 years. The event is sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council.

Flu shot clinic to be held Oct. 9

BURGETTSTOWN, Pa. - A flu shot clinic will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Oct. 9 at the Gathering Place Coffee Shop at the Paris Presbyterian Church located at 127 Steubenville Pike.

There will be a free blood screening and free coffee and snacks. The cost is $22.
