NEW CUMBERLAND - The Hancock County Health Department has the 2013-2014 influenza vaccine available.
Flu shots are available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through flu season. The cost is $20, but the department accepts most insurances, including Medicare.
"Flu season usually peaks between October and March," said Michelle Truax, department nursing supervisor. "It attacks all ages. The best defense against the flu is to get the shot."

The Centers for Disease Control recommend that everyone 6 months of age and older get the flu vaccine.
"The health department has vaccines available for infants to senior citizens," said Truax.
