Greater Weirton Senior Center

to hold monthly bake sales

WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 and Nov. 21.

Apple Anything Contest to be held

WELLSBURG - An Apple Anything Baking Contest will be held during the Wellsburg Applefest, with entries of apple pie, cobbler, cake and other apple-based dishes welcome.

This year festival goers may vote on the entries after paying $1 to sample each dessert from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7. Participants should bring their entries to the Wellsburg Town Square at 12:30 p.m. that day.

The winner of each of three categories - dough-related dishes, including pies; cakes and miscellaneous - will receive a $25 cash prize.

Country Friends hosting Art Beal

COLLIERS - The Country Friends will host Art Beal and The Country Tradition Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

Country Friends holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m. and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Dating awareness program available

MONROEVILLE, Pa. - Prime Stage Theatre, Pittsburgh Young Women's Christian Association and Community College of Allegheny County - Monroeville will present a teen dating awareness program from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Boyce Campus located at 595 Beatty Road.

The one-hour program raises awareness about teen dating violence and provides resources for teens, parents and educators. It includes the theatrical production of "You Belong to Me." It also includes a question and answer session and local resources.

Trail station holding Halloween walk

MCDONALD, Pa. - The McDonald Trail Station will hold a Halloween night walk at 7 p.m. Oct. 25.

It is open to children 12 and under and sponsored by Washington County Parks and Recreation. Call (724) 228-6867 to register children.

An Election Day bake sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 5.

A Christmas party will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 7. Santa will be present.

The trail station is operated by the McDonald Area Redevelopment Association. The group meets at 6 p.m. every second Thursday of the month.

Association hosting community dinner

WEIRTON - The Weirton Ministerial Association will host a community Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Weirton Senior Citizens Center located at 3425 Main St.

The meal is free and open tothe public. The meal includes turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans and dessert.

Transportation and meal delivery are available by calling ahead to (304) 748-4422.

The association also is soliciting donations of food and funds from the community to support the dinner. Those interested in making a donation are asked to contact the ministerial association at (304) 748-4422 by Nov. 1.
