WEIRTON - Local legislators met with community leaders recently to discuss the mission and goals of the Boys and Girls Club as well as affordable housing for residents of Brooke and Hancock counties.
Taking part in the Wednesday workshop were state Sen. Rocky Fitzsimmons, D-Wheeling; Dels. Randy Swartzmiller, D-Hancock, and Ronnie Jones, D-Hancock; Boys and Girls Club President Joe Alongi; Weirton Housing Authority Executive Director George Vargo; Executive Administrative Assistant Kimberly Azzarello; and Section 8 Manager Stacey Rodriguez.
The group discussed after-school programs as well as as the authority's Section 8 Choice Voucher Program, which provides federal dollars to local vendors and landlords and also helps defray utility costs for tenants.
