NEW CUMBERLAND - The Point Pleasant Ladies Aide remembered the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and military veterans during a recent meeting.
The members dressed in red, white and blue and decorated the tables in red, white and blue and antique tools. The members hung a flag in remembrance of the victims.
President Carolyn Allison led the Pledge of Allegiance and read a tribute to the victims, rescuers and active-duty military. Members prayed and lit the memory candle.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Bill Ross was the speaker. He spoke about the Wounded Warriors Project, the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville and the orphanage for military members' children. The group gave the VFW a donation to fund the home and the orphanage.
Following a make-your-own-sundae dessert, Allison called the business meeting to order. Vice President Louanne Huff read the devotion, "Bloom Where You Are Planted." Mick Goffoli read the August meeting minutes, and Kathleen McDonald gave the financial report.

McDonald gave the financial report. The group discussed the New Cumberland River Fest, which will be held Saturday and Sunday on River Avenue. The group will be working in the "All Sports" booth.
Each member shared their joy or concern, and Huff offered prayer.
The meeting was adjourned, and the group recited the closing prayer.
Mary Dolan, Linda McNeil and Mary Rose Cuppy were hostesses.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Point Pleasant Church.
