Weirton Daily Times

CLARKSBURG - The Weir High football team earned its first two-game winning streak since the 2008 with a 34-14 triumph over Liberty-Harrison Friday night.

The last time the Red Riders were on a winning streak was the final three regular season games, with wins over Claymont, Brooke and Tyler Consolidated and a home playoff win over Independence.

It was Eric Meek's final season as head coach. Weir was 9-3.

Since then, wins have been tough to find.

The Red Riders picked up their first win in 13 game last week, 22-21 over Grafton, and followed it up with another outstanding performance.

Weir scored early on a William Larch 5 yard run. Larch later scored on a 13-yard run. He threw a 35-yard scoring pass to Clarence Bennett in between and three Alyssa Shingle extra points and the Red Riders had a 21-6 lead at the half.
