Irondale has become "the village of scarecrows" as it welcomes the fall season and the community celebration and car show fall festival at the village park on Saturday.
"The homecoming committee has been hard at work making and decorating scarecrows that have been placed throughout the village," an event spokesperson said.
The festival begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the park with a flag-raising ceremony.
Festivities also include a pet/bike parade, hot rods car show, corn hole tournament, all-day entertainment, Stanton Ruritan duck race, dessert contest and auction, 4 Ever Young band performance, a Chinese auction and concessions stands along with Bad Axe BBQ chicken and ribs, Boy Scout Troop 49 chili and S'mores and senior citizens' homemade apple dumplings and ice cream. There also will be vendors.
The schedule of events for Saturday includes:
-- 10 a.m flag raising
-- 11 a.m pet/bike parade (Halloween costumes for owner and pet; decorate your bicycle)
-- Noon to 4 p.m., Halloween and hot rods car show (children come in costume to receive treats.)
-- 1 p.m., Corn hole tournament
-- 1 p.m., Entertainment starts with students of Jennifer Harris
-- 2 p.m., Stanton Ruritans duck race
-- 3 p.m., Dessert contest and auction
-- 4 p.m., Car show awards
-- 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 4Ever Young band performs
In addition to all-day concessions and vendors, there will be a light show at dark.
