Monday night at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville was occasion to celebrate 11 area residents for their unsung contributions to local communities as part of the Herald-Star, The Weirton Daily Times Community Stars, Presented by Weirton Medical Center. “The Community Stars program is all about honoring people for the good things they do in our community,” said Ross Gallabrese, executive editor of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, to the audience of approximately 150. Each star was presented a medallion, courtesy of Weirton Medical Center’s sponsorship. Applauded were, seated, from left, Janet Polverini, a longtime resident of Toronto who now lives in Follansbee; Mary Oddi of Burgettstown; Betty Powley of Bloomingdale; Betty Hasley of Rayland; and Cathie Llewellyn of Steubenville; and standing, Michael Thomas of Steubenville; Rick Oddi of Burgettstown; Gloria Howard of Steubenville; Tom Fitzgerald of Mingo Junction; Kyle Elder of Toronto; and Robert Pulice of Weirton. -- Janice Kiaski
