WEIRTON - Efforts are being put together to provide assistance to a family who lost a loved one and their home in a house explosion in Follansbee Friday morning.
A fund has been established at Progressive Bank for the Mozingo family, who lost their daughter as a result of the explosion reportedly caused by a natural gas leak. Donations may be made in care of the Mozingo family, Progressive Bank, 744 Charles St., Wellsburg, WV 26070.

Area residents attending the Haunted School of Terror attraction, located at 2850 Weir Ave. in Weirton, also will be among those with an opportunity to help.
Patty Soplinski, co-owner of Krazy Bout Sports, which organizes the local attraction, said they felt the need to help as soon as they heard the news.
Soplinski explained half of the proceeds brought in by the local haunted attraction today and Oct. 18 will be donated to the family.
"We want to donate to the family," Soplinski said. "We wanted to do something to give back."
The Haunted School of Terror operates each Friday and Saturday in October from 7 p.m. to midnight. Admission to the Haunted School of Terror is $10 per person.

West Virginia Red Knights Chapter 6 also is providing assistance, through its Victims of Fire Fund, to the Mozingos and the Pannetts, their neighbors, whose home received significant damage.
