BEALLSVILLE - Toronto's playoff hopes took a major hit on Friday as the Red Knights failed to keep up with Beallsville. The Blue Devils rallied past Toronto, 32-18.
After defeating Bellaire St. John by over 40 points in Week 6, the Red Knights overcame two-straight losses and were riding high into Beallsville.
A solid ground attack by the Blue Devils helped keep the Red Knights at bay.
Beallsville (4-3) totaled 207 yards on 63 rushes, led by a stable of running backs. Shane Mercer, the quarterback, actually, led with 76 yards on nine attempts and was 7 of 17 passing for 97 yards. He completed two touchdowns of 28 and 32 yards to Derek Lucas and Payton Palmer, respectively.
Joey Cunningham rushed for 59 yards on 14 attempts and Bruce Siefert added 58 yards on nine attempts.
Toronto (3-4) trailed the entire game, but Charles Ross III sparked the Red Knights late in the first quarter with a 79-yard kick off return. He also ran for 44 yards on seven attempts.

Chez Glenn led Toronto with 122 yards on 12 carries and had a 43-yard rushing score in the third quarter. Chez's younger brother, Blaze, ran 14 times for 12 yards and had a rushing touchdown from a yard out. The sophomore quarterback completed 10 of 27 passes for 54 yards and four interceptions.
The Red Knights trailed by just two points heading into the fourth quarter, but Palmer dashed any hopes of a late-game resurgence. He was on the receiving end of a touchdown from Mercer and picked off a pass and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown to close the scoring.
Chez Glenn caught five passes for 27 yards, while Nate Stewart had three receptions for 13 yards.
The Blue Devils have outscored opponents, 116-46, in wins this year. They were coming off a 55-20 loss to Wellsville. Toronto has been outscored 148-27 in its losses. The Red Knights fell to Wellsville, 31-6, in Week 1.
Toronto hosts Connotton Valley, next week, and Beallsville hosts Bridgeport.
