Drama Club presents 'Lost Colony' haunted trail

WEIRTON - The Madonna High School Drama Club will present "The Lost Colony," haunted trail at the high school, beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The event is suitable for all ages and costs $6 per person. Fall-themed refreshments will be available for purchase.

Trinity offering COPD screenings

TORONTO, Ohio - Trinity Health System will be screening for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Trinity Family Care Center located at 1800 Franklin St.

A respiratory therapist will give a brief screening, and based on answers, those participating may need further testing from their family physician. Therapists also will be answering questions about the disease, how it is diagnosed, symptoms and treatments.

Trinity Health System has joined a public health initiative called DRIVE4COPD in an effort to screen the millions of people who may be at-risk for the disease. As many as 24 million Americans have COPD, but approximately half don't know it and remain undiagnosed. COPD is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Women are at an increasingly high risk of COPD and the death rate is growing faster among women with COPD than men. COPD kills more people than breast cancer and diabetes combined.

Shiloh holding women's service

WEIRTON - Shiloh Apostolic Faith Church will hold a women's program and luncheon, themed "Twelve Keys," at noon Saturday.

The event will include a skit, readings and songs. Women from area churches will perform. The Waves of Glory from the Second Baptist Church of Steubenville, Ohio, will perform a special flag ministry.

Breast Cancer Awareness month will be recognized with the pink luncheon, which will be served following the program.

The event is open to public, and a free-will love offering will be received.

Evangelist Rosie Pitts from Shiloh Temple Church of Martins Ferry, Ohio, will be the guest speaker at noon Sunday.

Card party set for Sunday

WELLSBURG - The Women of the Wellsburg Moose will hold a card party at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Moose Lodge at 844 Main St.

The cost is $6, which includes a meal of homemade meatball sandwiches, pasta salad and cupcakes and a chance for a door prize. There also will be drawings for a television, card table set, cash, handmade crafts and many other items.

The group's biggest fundraiser, it supports holiday parties held for children, food baskets provided to residents in need, sponsorship of local teens to the Girls State leadership camp and other community service projects.

Park to hold trick or treat trail

WELLSBURG - Brooke Hills Park will hold its Halloween Treat or Trail from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The event is open to children in grade 4 and under. Admission is $5.

Elks holding pasta dinner

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 Past Exalted Rulers will hold their monthly pasta dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for members and guests at the lodge located on Main Street.

The dinner includes salad, pasta, bread and butter, dessert and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's Pasta Sunday.
