An event started by one of Weirton's Rotary clubs only a couple of years ago has quickly become a favorite for area runners, casual walkers and families alike.
On Saturday, the annual Run with Rotary 5K, organized by the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights, will be making its return, with participants gathering at the head of the Panhandle Trail for the 9 a.m. race start.
The unique part of the race is that it is not just for families and serious runners, it also takes a cue from the time of the year and encourages participants to come dressed in costume.
There will be prizes and goodies and a great time as shown during the last two years of the race, which has seen crowds of 40 to 50 participants show up.
The temperature is getting colder, and before too long there will be snow on the ground. This will probably be the last good running weather for the year, so we encourage area residents to show up, have some fun, get some exercise and show their support for our local Rotarians.
