Weir High School Class of '55

set to meet Wednesday

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. - The Weir High School Class of 1955 will meet at noon Wednesday at the Ponderosa Golf Course.

Strip Steel holding bake sale

WEIRTON - The Strip Steel Community Federal Credit Union will hold a bake sale Friday at the offices located at 3316 Main St.

Credit union employees and members are donating baked goods. Proceeds benefit the Mozingo family.

Spay/neuter clinic to be held

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will hold its next low-cost spay and neuter Roaming Animal Sterilization Clinic at Low Cost Saturday and Sunday at the Jefferson County Airpark.

Pre-payment is required. There are no walk-in services or vaccinations available.

Appointments are not limited to Brooke County residents.

Any interested pet owner can make an appointment by calling (304) 374-4443.

Boosters host 'Night at the Races'

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Cheering Booster presents "A Night at the Races" from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Victorian Hall located at 1801 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The races begin at 7 p.m. The event will include drawings and a 50/50 drawing.

A horse ticket is $30 and includes a horse, admission, food and drink.

An admission ticket is $20 and includes admission, food and drink.

Sponsorships are available for $100, which includes two admission tickets and advertising in the program, at the event and through social media.

The event is for those 21 and older.

Chorus resumes rehearsals

WHEELING - The Tri-State Community Chorus will resume rehearsals from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Wheeling Central Catholic High School band room located at 75 14th St.

The group is open to those high school aged and older. No audition is required.

Prior music experience is preferred, but not required. The ability to read music is not required.

New members are welcome.

Church holding gown sale

CHESTER - The Chester First United Methodist Church will hold the annual "Gown Galore" used gown sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9 at the church located at 240 Carolina Ave.

Gently used prom and homecoming dresses will be available. Only cash sales. Photographs of available dresses will be posted after Monday on the event Facebook page, which can be found by searching "Gowns Galore." Hailie Crummitt of Diapers to Diamonds Photography will take the photos.

Those interested in selling gently used dresses may bring them to the church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There is a $5 charge per dress, and sellers set their own prices and receive full price. Unsold dresses can be picked up from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10. Unclaimed dresses will be donated to charity.

St. Thomas hosting Christmas meal

WEIRTON - St. Thomas Church will hold a Christmas soup and sandwich luncheon from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the church located on Three Springs Drive.

Soups include beef vegetable and wedding soup. Sandwiches include meatball hoagie and ham barbecue. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

A Christmas bake and craft sale also will be held.

Soup is $6 for a quart. Take-out is available.
