The Martin Luther King Jr. Association, Franciscan University of Steubenville and Eastern Gateway Community College are joining together to present "Doo Wop for Scholarships" that will feature the nationally known 1960s group the Marcels, known for reviving the old favorite "Blue Moon" and numerous other hits of that era. The Marcels will perform on Sunday at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the performance. Tickets are $35 per person. Reservations can be made by calling (740) 284-5861. The event is open to the public. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship sponsored by the MLK Association. Last year eight students were awarded scholarships as a result of the organization's fundraising efforts.
With the Marcels are Anita Jackson, seated, coordinator of the event, and Patricia Fletcher, an MLK association member.
