WEIRTON - The Hancock County Federation of Democratic Women held their meeting Oct. 21.
The meeting was called to order by President Marilyn Boyd, who led the Pledge of Allegiance. Silent attendance was taken.
Secretary Debbie Caine read the September meeting minutes, which were accepted as read. There was no treasurer's report. It was announced the club has 31 members and one associate member.
Kathy Link gave a report on the club's boot at the New Cumberland Fall River Fest in September. Four people were registered to vote, and George Hines won the Homer Laughlin China Co. basket. Club members distributed information, and a 50/50 drawing was held. Boyd thanked those who participated.
Members discussed the holiday party which will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Giovanni's Restaurant. Donna Gialluco, Kathy Link and Teresa McCombs are chairing. Gialluco will distribute invitations. Spouses may attend, but will be responsible for covering the cost of their meals. Club members will pay $5. Money will be collected the night of the party. The reservation deadline is Nov. 25. All those attending are asked to bring three or four nonperishable food items and three or four cleaning products for donation to local charities.
A tentative slate of officers includes President Donna Gialluco, Vice President Debbie Caine, Secretary Teresa McCombs and Treasurer Cindy Jones. Nominations also may be made from the floor.
National Federation of Democratic Women President Carye Blaney and District Director Anna Gillespie have been invited to attend.
Members discussed fundraisers, including selling candy bars. The discussion will be resumed in January.
There will be no November meeting. The club will next meet at the party Dec. 2.
All Hancock County Democratic Women are invited to attend and join.
