Poetry reading to be held

at Weirton library

WEIRTON - David Craig, Ph.D., will present his contemporary religious poetry at the Mary H. Weir Public Library at 6 p.m.,Thursday.

Craig is the author of several published works of fiction and poetry. His latest books of poems are "St. Francis Poems" and "Whose Saints We Are," both released in 2013. Craig, of Weirton, holds a Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green University and is a professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he teaches creative writing.

Shriners to hold pancake breakfast

WEIRTON - The Weirton Shriners will hold its pancake breakfast, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Northern Panhandle Shrine Club off Cove Road.

The cost is $6 for adults, $3 children 6-12, under 6 are free.

Christmas Bazaar

at St. Thomas

WEIRTON - St Thomas Episcopal Church, Three Springs Drive, Weirton, is having their Christmas Bazaar on 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

The menu includes meatball or BBQ ham sandwich, beef vegetable or wedding soup. Coffee and tea are free, water and pop, $1. Desserts are 50 cents

Church to sell lunches

WELLSBURG - Christ Episcopal Church, at 1014 Main St., will be selling roast beef sandwich lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

The cost is $6.50, which includes the sandwich, chips, beverage and a slice of pumpkin sheet cake, with individual sandwiches available for $4.50. Take-out is available. Delivery to local businesses and shut-ins also is available by calling (304) 737-3432 after 8:30 a.m. that day.

Weirton Elks announces events

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will be holding their monthly pasta dinner, Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for members and guests.

The dinner includes salad, pasta, bread, butter, coffee or tea at $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's Pasta Sunday.

The lodge will also be selling hot soup, sandwiches, hot chocolate and snacks during the Weirton Christmas parade, Nov. 30. The food and beverages will be available starting at 4 p.m.

The Weirton Lodge will be closed Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
