Event helps Hounds’ Haven

November 17, 2013
Weirton Daily Times

To the editor:

On Nov. 2 "Holiday Bazaar and More," a fundraising sale to benefit Hounds' Haven Animal Shelter, was held at Cornerstone Church in Toronto.

A multitude of animal loving private citizens and organizations overwhelmingly responded to requests for donations of gently used, like new and new, never-opened items that could be sold to aid in the operational expenses at this "quality of life" shelter located in Jefferson County.

Although space does not permit naming the many who donated items for the sale or made monetary donations, I do offer my heartfelt gratitude to all for caring so much to help the homeless animals and this wonderful shelter that makes sure that these animals are seen and treated through a veterinarian, have their shots and are spayed and neutered before they are adopted to good, loving homes.

I also want to thank the following people who lended a helping hand in transport, setting up, repacking and in overall support in helping make this event a success: the Rev. Raul Diaz of Cornerstone Church, Marjie DeFede, Karen Mellott, Dani Swearingen, George Komar, Rich Sines,Vicki Miller, Don Miller, Choice Brands of Ohio for the donation of the promotional banner, the Toronto businesses which permitted the posting of promotional fliers, the Goucher Haunted Hotel staff for handing out flyers and, of course, all those who stopped in and made purchases.

Also, a very special thank you to Robin Cibulka of Hounds' Haven for giving me her blessing to hold this event and for helping me, and so many others with fixed incomes who have taken in homeless animals in Jefferson County, by providing low cost spaying and neutering programs as funding becomes available.

There are still many donated items in storage to be used for a similar fundraising event in the near future.

Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible donation may do so by mailing it to Hounds' Haven Inc., 17 Township Road 150, Dillionvale, OH 43917. Donations can also be made through PayPal by typing in the e-mail address houndshaven1@yahoo.com at the PayPal website.

Information about Hounds' Haven can be found at the Fans of Hounds' Haven page on Facebook.
