The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual meeting and banquet was recently held at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville. In addition to a documentary film shown and honoring “Conservation Farmers of the Year,” a photography contest was held with three categories including “Farm Animals.” “Culinary Bounty,” and “On the Waterfront.” Those attending the banquet could vote for their favorite photo in each category. All photos had to have been taken in Jefferson County. Diane Rojak Bannister of Weirton won the award in the category of “On the Waterfront.” It was a picture of Jefferson State Lake in Richmond with fall foliage in the background and a motor boat by a boat dock. Pictures entered in the contest are used in various promotional ways by the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District.
