WEIRTON?- Christmas poinsettias, lights, trees and packages decorated the room where widows and widowers of Moving On met Dec. 8 at Undo's with Christine Brown, vice president, presiding.
Fred Vogt gave the blessing.
A holiday scene of poinsettias decorated the tables made possible by Margaret Chapman, Betty Ann Jeffries, Helen Parrish, Delores Proakis and Nancy Smurda.
Brown provided the reading, and Ingrid Koenig wrote a poem about the meaning of Christmas.
December birthdays were acknowledged with a song and a cupcake.
Afterwards, a Christmas card exchange was held and a gift given to all.
Lucretia "Toots" Ross and Koenig conducted the 50-50 drawing won by Anita Spadaford. Undo gift certificates went to Peggy Sweeney and Richard Kimmel, who also won the jewelry case.
Table prizes of poinsettias were won by Jack Davis, Koenig, Herbert Simms, Jim Barrett, Carol Ann Zagula with dinners for Fran Parsons, Simms and Margaret Ashbee.
Entertainment was provided by Jim and Jimmy Donahue, who performed down-memory-lane songs. Members participated with songs.
Mary Sue Hodovanic provided the information on those members who would sponsor the table prizes and what months were provided for the club.
There will be no meetings in January and February.
The next meeting will be March 9 at Undo's in Weirton. Carol Zagula discussed 2014 tours available.
The cost is $12 for dinner and $10 for dues. Anyone interested in joining can contact Janet Saner at (740) 537-4487.
