January 1, 2014
From staff reports , Weirton Daily Times

STEUBENVILLE - The New Year's week at the newspaper often includes reporters working on stories that look back at the previous year.

For our look-back at 2013, the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times are offering a video blog with summaries of the area's big stories from the previous 12 months.

The video is a report delivered by Executive Editor Ross Gallabrese and Copy Editor/Online Columnist Paul Giannamore and includes summaries of 10 of the year's top stories, as well as commentary by the two longtime local journalists.

"We're excited to bring our year in review to our website in this new format. Our hope is that it gets you thinking back, as well as appreciating some positive developments in the area," Gallabrese said.

The video blog will be available through a link on the websites heraldstaronline.com and weirtondailytimes.com beginning today.

Gallabrese and Giannamore will be offering news summaries via video on the websites throughout the year, on a regular basis on weekdays and as breaking news warrants.

Giannamore said, "This is a part of the continuing development of the newspaper to offer content in new ways in the online era. I am excited to be part of our new video venture and look forward to summarizing the news of the day for our website visitors in the coming months."

The videoblog is produced by Online Editor Michael D. McElwain.
