NEW CUMBERLAND - The Point Pleasant Ladies Aide members met in December at the Hancock County Museum located on Ridge Avenue.

President Carolyn Allison welcomed the members and lit a candle to remember those members who could not attend.

The Victorian Carolers, under Mary Fern Schmidt's direction, entertained with Christmas Carols and a reading of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and giving a history of carols. Bud Simmons played a series of carols on the dulcimer. Carolers Helen Lowther, Linda Marsh and Vivian Weigel, along with Schmidt and Simmons, led the group in a sing-a-long.

Vice President Louanne Huff offered a prayer before the member and carolers had lunch, prepared by hostesses Patty Bruce, Lora Bailey, Eileen Snyder and Ruth Fuller.

Allison called the business meeting to order.

It was reported that 20 hooded sweatshirts and hats were presented to New Manchester Elementary School and Allison Elementary School for students in need. Members voted to donate money to the Backpack Project at Allison School, the Christ Christmas Tree at Point Pleasant Methodist Church and the museum.

The members brought items and cards to be sent to military members in Afghanistan, Hawaii, Washington, Japan and West Virginia.

Allison explained the "Keep in Touch" project, presented each member with a gift and the name of another member to "keep in touch" with through February.

The next regular meeting will be held in March at the Point Pleasant Methodist Church.
