Union Local stays unbeaten

MORRISTOWN - Union Local hit Buckeye Local broke open a fairly competitive game in the early stages of the fourth Wednesday and went on for an 86-55 victory and its 13th straight win to begin the season.

In the fourth quarter, Union Local exploded on a 22-2 run, which was fueled by the defensive end. Trenton Tipton and Kaleb McDiffit turned several turnovers into easy chances.

Brennan Czuchran scored 29 points for Buckeye. Edison will host the Jets on Friday.

Big Red Boosters

STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the high school conference room. All are welcome. Memberships are available.

Umpiring classes offered

STEUBENVILLE - Umpiring classes for baseball and softball will be offered in February and March. These classes are for OHSAA and WVSSAC certification. Interested candidates can contact Joe Banovsky by e-mail at jjbanovsky@aol.com or by phone at (740) 632-2871.

Class times and locations will be determined by sign ups.

Classes will consist of book work, computer lessons and on-field mechanics.

Students will be able to umpire during the 2014 spring season upon completion.
