CADIZ - The short-handed Indian Creek girls basketball team suffered its fifth loss of the season Thursday night at John W. Stephenson Center as Harrison Central rolled to a 66-30 Buckeye 8 victory.

The Huskies led 19-7 after the opening frame and never looked back.

"What got us going was Katie (Ellzy), said Harrison Central coach Nick Yourkovich. "She played lights out to start the game."

The Huskies' 5-foot-9 forward was paired with Indian Creek's Kiarra Kamarec (6-3) but muscled in a dozen points in the first quarter.

Ellzy was dominant in the paint and senior Jesse Ledger rained threes from the outside netting 6 of 10., "When Jesse is playing like she did and Ellzy is on her game the whole team plays well - and when we do that we can play with anybody," Yourkovich added.

Harrison Central would outscore the visitors in every quarter. The hosts won the second 16-9, the third by a narrow 11-10 margin and 20-4 n the final stanza.

"We are not making any excuses," Indian Creek head coach Erin DeSantis said despite playing without stand-out Brianna Berryman and two other starters who are on a school trip. "Give Harrison credit, they played very well and we just got beat."

Ellzy finished with a game high 22 points adding eight rebounds and aix steals. Ledger added 20 points and Shianne Nameth contributed nine points for the Huskies. Kara Dunfee added six points with eight assists. Harrison Central was 16 of 37 from two-point, 8 of 18 from three-point and 10 of 14 from the charity stripe.

Kameric paced the Redskins with 14 points. Indian Creek was 11 of 36 from the field and seven of nine from the free throw line.

Harrison Central led on the boards with 24 rebounds while Indian Creek pulled down 21 caroms. The Redskins committed 30 turnovers to just 12 for the Huskies.

Harrison Central improves to 12-4 and will host Buckeye Local Saturday. The Redskins travel to Union Local Tuesday.
