FUS men fall on the road
HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Franciscan University of Steubenville men's basketball team dropped an 88-68 decision to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference leader Hilbert College Sunday.
"We just came out flat," head coach John Lamanna said. "We ended with a good field goal percentage, but defensively we were very poor. We let them do whatever they wanted to do and there was not much resistance."
Moses Sullivan led the Barons with 21 points. Joe Rine added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
"We're still learning and still have a long way to go," Lamanna said.
The Barons visit Pitt-Greensburg for a 6 p.m. start on Wednesday.

"We were out of sync. We didn't shoot well. It was just frustrating," head coach Suzy Delaney said.
Senior point guard Helen Raines paced the Lady Barons with 14 points. Dani Link added eight points and 10 rebounds and Lacey Huck had 10 points and seven rebounds.
FUS heads to Pitt-Greensburg at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
FUS swimmers drop two
WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Franciscan University of Steubenville women's swimming and diving team lost to host Washington and Jefferson (67-35) and Hiram College (63-48) on Sunday.
"It was just a challenging meet overall," head coach Becky Recznik said.
Junior Maria Guiliani finished second in the 200 free (2:05.95). Freshman Nicole Marshall won the 200 back in 2:24.94.
The 200 free relay of Guiliani, Marshall, Molly Coogan, and Aimee Vunovich won in 1:52.74. Kelli Rankin placed third in the 3-meter diving at 169.9. Rankin doesn't have the opportunity to dive on a 3-meter board often and doesn't have access to one to practice on.
"She knows we're limited with training and she has the diving coach Kateri Lang to help her prepare mentally," Recznik said. "Diving is such a mental sport so it takes a lot of strength of mind and strength of will to just get up and conquer her fears and just go for it."
The Lady Barons visit Chatham University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
