Historian gives 'Legends' talk

January 31, 2014
Weirton Daily Times

WHEELING - Local history enthusiast Joe Roxby will be at Lunch With Books at noon Tuesday at the Ohio County Public Library to present the program "Legends of Fort Henry."

The history of Fort Henry tends to be built around a trilogy of legends: Sam McColloch, Lewis Wetzel and Betty Zane. After a discussion about a postcard depicting the McColloch's Leap monument, Roxby designed the program as a way to discuss some of the myths and misinformation that have grown up around all three Wheeling historical figures.

Roxby will also host a question-and-answer session.
