Snow roller

January 31, 2014
Weirton Daily Times
Although considered a rare meteorological phenomenon, snow rollers by the hundreds formed on this Twinview Drive hillside, off Rodgers Road, south of Chester earlier this week. Snow rollers form, according to the National Weather Service, when strong winds blow chunks of snow or ice along the ground and cause them to accumulate snowpack as they roll — creating a snowball effect. -- Stephen Huba
