Area residents should mark this Thursday on their calendars.
It's that time again when everyone can practice preventative care by attending one of the Ohio Valley's premier health events.
The annual Heartland event sponsored by Trinity Health System is set from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Steuben Mall. And, it's there that area residents can undergo screenings and testings at a minimal cost.
What's been called the "largest heart risk appraisal under one roof" is geared toward knowing just how healthy individuals are.
More than 26,000 area residents have participated in years past, and this 21st installment of Heartland includes blood screenings, blood pressure readings and nutrition information, all geared toward healthier lifestyles and healthier individuals. And many of those people have received news that they need to see a doctor to correct potential heart problems and other illnesses.
The Community Blood Analysis testing, which costs $35, includes blood sugar, lipid profiles and liver and thyroid function testing.
The information from those tests can save lives, making the tests worth every penny.
Also, several service personnel will be on hand to discuss services and provide screenings in conjunction with the screenings offered by Trinity Health System. These interactive displays will be manned from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Knowing one's level of heart health can mean the difference between a declining lifestyle and ever-increasing medical expenses or being able to remain healthier longer by taking better care of one's self.
Please take advantage of the area's annual health screenings at Heartland. It definitely is worth the time.
