To the editor:
On. Nov. 17, I wrote a letter to the editor describing the trials and tribulations of our daughter, Lynette Wilinski Galiley "Benefit will help battle pain of TN." She was denied coverage by her health insurance carrier for a procedure to treat the daily head and facial pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia. In that letter, we announced the date of a benefit planned to raise funds to help defray some of the costs associated with the procedure.
The benefit was held Dec. 14 at the Spot Bar. To say this event was a success would be an understatement. More than 250 people attended that evening, despite some bad weather. In addition, numerous items were donated for auction, and the contributions of food were amazing. We also have received great support in the form of monetary donations that were overwhelming. Limited space prevents us from offering our gratitude for the generosity of so many businesses and individuals, so personal thank-you notes are being sent to all who contributed or made a donation. Many anonymous donations were made, and to these individuals, we say thank you.
No one will ever convince us that the people of the community do not have a heart that is sympathetic to the needs of others. You opened your hearts to our daughter in a way that exceeded our expectations. You have touched our hearts and we will forever be grateful.
Through your caring and generous spirit, you have contributed $40,808 to our daughter's medical fund,
On behalf of Lynnette, Barb and I want all of you to know how appreciative we are of your magnanimous response. Thank you, and may God abundantly bless each of you.
