Greater Weirton Area Senior

Center holding rummage sale

WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a mini rummage sale from 9 a.m. until closing through Friday.

Madonna holding open house

WEIRTON - Madonna High School will hold the spring open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the high school located at 150 Michael Way.

Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students and their parents are invited to attend, tour the school and learn about available academic, athletic and extracurricular programs. Those attending will observe demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities and talk with faculty, staff and students.

Trigonometry students will demonstrate their mousetrap cars, and the calculus class will demonstrate and discuss their research projects. An "open studio" will be organized and students will conduct art lessons they have learned throughout the year. The biology lab will have displays, including live animals as well as information about class activities. An interactive history quiz on the U.S. Presidents will be conducted. Coaches and athletes will discuss the various athletic programs at Madonna High School, and club moderators and members will be available to discuss clubs and organizations.

Eighth-grade students also are invited to the eighth-grade visitation Wednesday. Visiting students will attend mass, visit classrooms and have lunch. Those interested can contact the school at (304) 723-0545.

Class of 1959 to hold meeting

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Class of 1959 will have their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Three Springs Drive Eat'n Park.

Church holding Black History Songfest

WEIRTON - St. Peter AME Church welcomes local residents to attend a Black History Songfest beginning at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the church located at 1053 County Road. Black history will be explored through song and presentation.

Cheerleaders holding signups

WEIRTON - The Weirton Steelers Cheerleaders will hold sign-ups for the 2014 season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 1 and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 6 at the Millsop Community Center.

The cost is $20 and includes a camp T-shirt.

St. John holding pancake breakfast

AVELLA, Pa. - The St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church's Altar Society will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast March 2 at the church hall located at 176 Cross Creek Road. The cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children. Take-out is available.

Class of 1964 holding meeting

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Steubenville Catholic Central Class of 1964 will hold a meeting concerning their upcoming 50th Reunion at 7 p.m. March 18 at Lancelot's Restaurant.

Classmates will discuss the June 13 golf outing, June 13 get-together and June 14 dinner and dance. All events will be held at the Steubenville Country Club.
