AVELLA, Pa. - The Avella Area School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2014-2015 school year March 13-14 at the Avella Elementary Center located at 1000 Avella Road.
For a child to be eligible, they must be 5 years old by Aug. 31.
During registration, children will be assessed for developmental screening, reading placement screening, speech and vision. Children also will meet with a kindergarten teacher. The registration process takes approximately 90 minutes to two hours.
Registration is by appointment only. Registration forms may be picked up at the elementary office prior to the appointment.

The following must be brought to registration: a birth certificate issued by the Bureau of Vital Statistics - hospital certificates will not be accepted; completed health history form; proof of residency, such as a tax bill, rent receipt or current utility bill; general information form; and language survey.
Current immunization records must be provided and include at least four doses of DTP vaccine; three doses of polio vaccine; two doses of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine; three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine; and either proof of chicken pox vaccine or history of disease.
Those new to the district are asked to register with the township in which they reside.
Any parent requesting specific restriction regarding custody or guardian issues must present an official court order defining the restrictions.
