Oak Glen rallies to down Brooke

NEW MANCHESTER - Logan Andrews scored 14 points to lead the Oak Glen girls basketball team over Brooke, 60-50, on Wednesday.

Bree Evans added 13 points, Alex Arnott scored nine and Maisie Witherow had eight. Vanessa Hissam chipped in with seven.

For Brooke, Angela Staffileno had a triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks. Michaela Hinerman added 15 points, while Payge Farmer had five and Kelsey Wensyl scored four.

The Golden Bears outscored the Bruins, 27-5 in the fourth quarter.

Park beats Weir

WHEELING - Wheeling Park raced to an early 13-0 lead and outscored Weir 26-2 in the first quarter on its way to a 90-48 win in girls basketball action Wednesday night.

The Red Riders (6-14) were led by junior Raegan Stead's 19 points. Senior Alyssa Shingle scored 12 points, dished out eight assists, grabbed six rebounds and collected four steals in the losing effort. Weir senior Maddie Dalrymple blocked seven shots and had six points to go with six boards, while fellow senior Michayla Dobosz chipped in five points and six boards.

Kambrea O'Neal led the Lady Patriots with 19 points as all five starters scored in double figures. Chloe Robb scored 18 points, Kendra Johnson added 16 and Kelsi Johnson and Tamara Bumgardner chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.

Weir returns to action Monday at Oak Glen in a sectional quarterfinal game.

Cameron tops Toronto

CAMERON - Blaze Glenn scored 18 points, but it wasn't enough to lead Toronto past Cameron on Wednesday. The Dragons prevailed, 74-62.

Blaine Rawson added 13 points and Troy Hill scored nine. Hank Clegg drilled a pair of 3-pointers.

The Red Knights fell to 8-14 on the year and face Frontier in a sectional game on Monday at New Philadelphia.

Huskies advance in D-III sectional

BYESVILLE - Nate Olmstead knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points as the Harrison Central boys basketball team eliminated Barnesville from the Division III sectional tournament at Meadowbrook High School on Wednesday.

The Huskies prevailed, 58-46.

Kalub Mitchell led all scorers with 14 points, Cory Yoho scored 13 and Austin Kowalski added eight.
