SANTILLE, Eleanor E., 78, of Hopedale, OH, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Trinity West following a long illness.
A daughter of the late Frank Hall and Bernice Busby Case, Eleanor was born Dec. 29, 1935 in Wheeling, WV.
She was a 1953 graduate of Hopedale High School. After many years working at St. John Hospital in Steubenville, OH, Eleanor retired in 1993.
She was passionate about bowling and bowled until she was no longer able. She was past league president for the Quadettes at J.D. Lanes in Cadiz, and past director for the McCook Area WBA. She participated heavily in both state and national bowling tournaments, most notably representing Ohio in the Senior National Tournament in Reno, NV, in 2007, and she was inducted into the McCook Area WBA Hall of Fame.
Eleanor was a member of the Hopedale United Methodist Church, and the Hopedale American Legion auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Eugene M. (Sam) Santille; one son, Kelly (Denise) Santille of Hopedale; three daughters: Cindy (Lee) Henderson of Massillon, Ohio, Shelley Anderson of Hopedale and Tammy Jo (Raymond) Medovich of Westerville, OH; five grandchildren: Sara, Jessica, Michael, Kyle and Samuel; and three great-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters survive: Harold Hall, Joe Case, Richard Case, Mark Case, Verna Rensi and Diana Dunlap, all of Hopedale, and Carol Varkony of Georgia.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by infant brother, Frank and two sisters, Shirley Bruno and Wanda Varkony.
Friends may call at the Blackburn Funeral Home at 324 High St., Hopedale, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., with services there on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH.
