Oak Glen High School senior Cody Tropeck, flanked by his parents David and Jennifer Tropeck, will continue his academic and athletic careers at the University of Charleston. He will be a member of the Eagles cross country and track teams while studying pre-med. He finished 12th in the West Virginia Class AA-A regional cross country meet and was a member of the OVAC?Class 4A runners-up. “While Cody only ran one year of cross country, he made an immediate impact because of his strong determination to better himself and help his team,” said Oak Glen cross country head coach Adam Howell. “I am happy that he has decided to continue running in college and feel that he will be an asset to the University of Charleston. He has only begun to scratch the surface of his potential as a runner and it will be exciting to see where this opportunity will lead him.” Tropeck is also a three-year qualifier for the West Virginia State Track Meet in multiple events and is a three year letterman, and expectations for his senior year are high. “Cody is a very hard working young man with a great attitude and leadership skills,” said Oak Glen head boys track coach Rance Everly. “I am counting heavily on him as a team leader and expect him excel in his individual and relay events. I’m very confident that he’ll be very successful at the next level both academically and athletically.” Also on hand for the signing were, from left, Everly, Howell and Athletic Director Phil Rujak.
