Brooke County Special Olympics
to face off with police, deputies
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Special Olympic Bears will face the Enforcers, a team comprised of members of the Brooke County Fraternal Order of Police and Deputy Sheriffs Association, in a basketball game Friday at Wellsburg Middle School.
Admission is free to the game, which will start at 7 p.m., following a game at 6 p.m. between area firefighters and employees of Lyle's Auto and Reasner Funeral Home. There will be door prizes, drawings and refreshments, with proceeds going to Brooke County Special Olympics.
Country Friends Dance Band to perform
COLLIERS - The Country Friends Dance Band will perform Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Old Police Lodge Road.
The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.
Country Friends Dance Band performs once a month, exclusively for Country Friends at Memorial Hall.
There are covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. The last Friday of the month is Gospel Night, during which, the group conducts a church walk.

Management club to meet
WEIRTON - The Weirton Steel Management Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Giovanni's Restaurant's banquet room.
All members and former members are invited to attend. Dinner and social will be enjoyed.
PVUM holding rummage sale
WEIRTON - The Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church will hold the spring rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 4 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 5 at the church located at 101 Lisa Court.
Clothing and household items will be available.
Fire department holds drawing
NEWELL?- The Newell Volunteer Fire Department is selling tickets for its 2014 Cookout Raffle, scheduled for July 2. Tickets are $5 each, and $4,000 in prizes will be awarded.
First prize will be $1,500 in meat, a $200 Walmart gift card, a $200 gas card and a gas grill. Only 2,000 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased from any Newell firefighter, at bingo every Wednesday and Saturday, at Newell American Legion Post 114 and at the Newell Marathon station.
Pro-Life dinner scheduled
MORGANTOWN - West Virginians For Life will hold the 16th-annual Pro-Life Rose Dinner March 28 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa.
Cal Thomas, columnist, author and radio and political commentator, will be the keynote speaker.
The reception begins at 6 p.m., dinner starts at 7 p.m., and Thomas will speak following the dinner. The event includes a book signing and silent auction. The cost is $50 per person.

WBA holding spring training party
WEIRTON - The Weirton Baseball Association will hold a spring training party at 7 p.m. March 29 at the Serbian American Cultural Center located at 1000 Colliers Way.
The event will include food, cash bar, disc jockey, silent and Chinese auctions and a $1,000 cash drawing. Tickets may be purchased from a WBA board member in advance for $10 or at the door for $15.

WEIRTON - The Weirton Heights Church of Christ will present a spring gospel meeting with Dan Jenkins April 27-May 1 at the church located at 3169 Pennsylvania Ave.
