PARK, Leroy L., 95, of Weirton, WV, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Weirton Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 1, 1918, in Coburn, WV, the son of the late Lonze and Lydia Willey Park.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 72 years, Leltha Estaline Williams Park (2013); daughter, May Swiger (1995); sisters, Gail Cathers, Estel Phillips; brothers, Lewis and Dudley Park. Leroy was a member of the Kings Creek Union Chapel where he had previously served as an Elder, and treasurer of the Cora Moore Bible Class. a U.S. Army, WW II veteran, Staff Sgt., 69th Infantry Division, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and several other Battle Stars. He served 32 months in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 2716 and the 25-year Club of Weirton Steel Company. He retired from the blast furnace of National Steel Corp./Weirton Division.
Surviving are his daughters, Ellen Christine Perry (Paul) of Englewood, FL, Dwan Marinacci (Richard) of Weirton, WV, Rehonda Comings (Charles) of Frankfort, KY; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Lillian Stoneking of Baltimore, MD; brother, Donald Park of Hundred, WV.
There will be no visitation. Private service, burial, and committal will be held at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
