NEW CUMBERLAND - Four students from the John D. Rockefeller IV Career Center earned medals at the 2014 SkillsUSA competition in Putnam County.
Keith Orr, a senior at Oak Glen High School, brought home the gold for mobile electronics installation. A student in the Career Center's diesel technology program, Orr has been a Skills USA member for the past three years. He also is a two-year competer in electronics technology.

Upon graduation, Orr plans to continue his studies in electronics at Pittsburgh Technical Institute.
Electronics technology teacher Ed Zawatski hailed Orr's achievements, calling him "very energetic, always inquisitive, a very ambitious guy."
Hannah Gilchrist, also an Oak Glen senior, earned a silver medal in electronics technology at the competition.
"She's always on task, very professional, always on the ball," Zawatski said.
Gilchrist plans to pursue a career in the military as an electrical technician.
Senior Vanessa Hissam, a student in health science technology, earned a silver medal for medical terminology.
Senior Jeremy Mackey earned a bronze in the same category that is his course of study at the Career Center - diesel technology. He plans to attend WyoTech University in Blairsville, Pa., in the fall.
The SkillsUSA competition was held the weekend of March 28 at Putnam County Career and Technical Center near Charleston.
