WELSH, James F., 71, of Weirton, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, from injuries sustained in a pedestrian/automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 19, 1943, in Colliers, WV, the son of the late Michael M. and Marjorie Thompson Welsh.
He was also preceded in death by a son, James Paul Welsh (2001); and a brother, Michael R. Welsh.
Jim was a member of the First Christian Church, WV American Legion and the Weirton Steel Company 25-Year Club.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving six years. He was a former driver of Shuey's Dry Cleaning. He enjoyed his current job at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Penco Road. He retired as a welder in the Strip Steel Department of Weirton Steel Corp.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Karen McMahon Welsh; son, Jeffrey A. Welsh of Weirton, WV; grandson, Steven Goldsmith of Colliers, WV; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Virginia McMahon and Judy Welsh, all of Colliers, WV; nephews, Scott and Lorrie McMahon and family, and Rob and Kacey McMahon and family, all of Follansbee, WV; and very dear friends, George and Harriett Demko of Follansbee, WV.
Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, where the funeral and committal service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin L. Bowers presiding. Inurnment will be at St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV, at a later date.
