FREEMAN, Audrey L. (Spriggs), 82, loving wife, mother, and grandmother in the Bridgeport, WV area, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Pierpont Center, Fairmont, WV, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 5, 1931, in New Cumberland, WV, daughter of the late Ralph and Beulah (Chambers) Spriggs of New Manchester, WV.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Herman H. Freeman of Pierpont Center, Fairmont WV, a daughter, Marilyn (Doug) Baker of Bluffton, SC, three grand children, Jennifer Witnauer of Amherst, NY, Melissa Baker (Ryan Kurczak) of Asheville, NC, Michael Baker of Park City, UT, two great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Zachary Witnauer of Buffalo, NY, a brother, Dallas Spriggs (Nancy) of Okeechobee, FL; a sister, Bonda Kendall (Russell) of Scottsdale, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was a member of the Clarksburg Central Christian Church where she formerly served on the Board of Trustees, as the treasurer, and as a deaconess. Audrey has always been active in the Lord's service in various capacities.
She went to college at Fairmont State and eventually completed her Bachelor's Degree at age 50. She served as Nursing Home Administrator at the Heritage in Bridgeport, WV where she worked until her retirement at age 70.
She will leave an empty place in the hearts of her husband, family and friends and her faithful dog, Abbey.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV on Friday from 4-7 p.m. The funeral services will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Darrell Pierce presiding. The interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery, Bridgeport, WV.
