SHERRODSVILLE - The third-annual Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo is set Wednesday at Atwood Lake Resort, 2650 Lodge Road.
The expo offers a way for local businesses to showcase what they do for other businesses and the public, a spokesman noted. The trade show will be set up in the ballroom of the resort and is open free to the public from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Several vendor spots remain, with the cost for a chamber member at $75 and nonmembers at $150.
The event will start with a brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the dining room at Atwood Lake Resort, at a cost of $20. There will be a presentation at 11 a.m. by James J. Zehringer, the Ohio Department of Natural Resource director, and Rick Simmers, ODNR division of oil and gas resources management chief.
They are to talk about the role the division has throughout Ohio and will dive into the state's oil and gas industry.
Zehringer was appointed as ODNR director on Nov. 15, 2011, by Gov. John Kasich. He is former owner of the Meiring Poultry and Fish Farm in Fort Recovery. He was director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture and served Grand Lake St. Mary's area as a state representative the the 77th House District and was ranking minority member of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. He also worked as Mercer County commissioner from 2002-07.
Simmers is responsible for enforcing Ohio's laws related to oil and gas drilling, production, plugging, orphan wells, solution mining, enhanced recovery gas storage and underground injection control operations.
As ODNR employee, Simmers began working for the oil and gas program in 1985. Over the years, he has served as a staff geologist, ground water investigator, acting chief and statewide field enforcement administrator.
He is serving as Ohio's representative to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and has served on the Ground Water Protection Council.
