School demolished

May 7, 2014
Weirton Daily Times
Crews with Savage Construction of Wheeling worked Tuesday to raze St. John School in Wellsburg. Officials with St. John Catholic Church and the Wheeling-Charleston Catholic Diocese said space occupied by the school will be used for parking for the adjacent church, with other possible uses to be considered for the future. The school closed in 2011, because of declining enrollment, after providing many children with a Christ-based education for more than 50 years. The school’s playground equipment was donated to the city for its 4th Ward Park.
